Timothy pays dividends

Armbro Timothy won the week's top trot, the $27,500 Open Handicap on Wednesday at Dover Downs while Tony Morgan drove four winners. Swissonian and Outreatgeous won $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) soph trot prelims.

After being idle from mid May until early this year, Armbro Timothy, owned and trainer by Bobby Glassmeyer of Bridgeville, Del., is paying immediate dividends. The 10-year-old Balanced Image gelding won for the second straight week, and seven of his last eight starts dating back to last Spring. With Morgan at the controls, Armbro Timothy disposed of six rivals in 1:55.3. Another 10 year old, Breeze Hill Will and Tim Tetrick, was the second best with Armbro Corbin and Eddie Davis Jr. securing third money.

Swissonian swept to his third straight win including two $20,000 DSBF preliminaries in the first of two colt and gelding trotter divisions. Owned by Fred and Layhoon Bruner, Swissonian took the lead at the start for Tetrick and held off a determined bid from Nanticoke Snazz with Brandon Givens from in front of the grandstand until the stretch and then pulled off for a 1:59.3 win. Penn State Fan and Morgan finished second but was disqualified and placed third with Nanticoke Snazz upped to second.

In the other $20,000 section, Outrageous, owned by Glenn Wenzel, Dan Mock, Gary Price and Ricky Stamm, closed with a rush to catch front-trotting Secret Agent and Eddie Dennis in the final step for a 2:02.2 victory. Off at 36-1, the win was the first for the well-bred CR Commando colt. Secret Agent was second with Master Commando and Jim King taking third.

Three Point Acres' Musclesextrodinair returned after a one=month holiday to overpower the field in a 1:55.4 victory in one of two $17,000 winners-over trots. Vicki Gram (Art Stafford Jr.) finished second for the second straight time with Sears Tower, piloted by Tetrick, was the third finisher.

Moneyball struck paydirt for the first time this year with Tetrick engineering a 1:55.3 triumph in the other $17,000 winners-over. My Huckleberry (Morgan) had the lead until the closing strides with Safari Heat (Roger Plante) coming on for third.

Tetrick drove Bob Seamans' Muir Hanover to a come-from-behind 1:54.4 victory in a $12,000 Delaware Male pace. Monbak (Morgan) was a close second in front of Gin And Vermouth (Jim Morand).

Fancee Faith, driven by Ross Wolfenden for owners Tim Hunderpfund and Joe Colosi, came through for a 1:55.3 triumph in a $10,500 mares pace. Bridezilla (Tetrick) was next with A Dandy Hand (George Dennis) third.

Paul and Donna Moore's Wynfield Bob with Morgan, had just enough to hold off fast finishing Gift From Monte (Wolfenden) by a nose in 1:54.1. Come Back Cat (Brandon Givens) was third. (Dover Downs)
