Tioga closed until Monday

Impassable road conditions on West River Road, where standing water has measured up to six feet deep in some places, have forced Tioga Downs to cancel racing this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Susquehanna River Trotting Series final has been moved to Tuesday, July 4. Post positions will remain the same, and the final will be raced later on the afternoon card.

“In the past few days it has been tragic here in the Southern Tier of New York, and Northern Tier of Pennsylvania,” said Jason Settlemoir, vice president of racing operations and simulcast. “We just hope that everyone is safe and out of danger. We also look forward to resuming racing on Monday, and hope that most of the water will have receded.”

Entries for the Monday card should be phoned to the race office not later than 9 a.m. (EDT) on Friday; conditions may be found online at www.tiogadowns.com, where more conditions have been added for Monday and Tuesday. (Tioga Downs)
