Tioga to add race dates

Tioga Downs announced today the addition of 6 new dates to its racing calendar, raising the total to 49 dates in the 2006 racing season.

“The work at Vernon is going to take a little longer than anticipated,” said Jeff Gural. “We’ve decided to move the starting date of Vernon back to August 3rd. In order to make up for the loss of dates in July, we’ve decided to add a day of racing at Tioga. We’ll race four days a week in July instead of three.”

Tioga will start its schedule in June by racing three days a week: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In July, Tioga will add Mondays to its schedule for a total of four days a week. After the August 3 opening of Vernon, Tioga will then drop Saturdays and return to its normal Friday, Sunday, Monday schedule. All dates are pending construction delays and approval by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board.

Just a reminder that Tioga will be hosting a special nighttime qualifier this Friday at 6:50 p.m. Entries will be taken on Thursday morning until 10 a.m. Please dial (607) 699-3900 and ask for the race office to enter your horses. Please visit us on our brand new website at www.tiogadowns.com .
