Sand Vic and Corleone Kosmos captured their respective $40,000 Titan Cup eliminations for older trotters Friday night at the Meadowlands, both sealing the outcome with a final quarter of :26.4. The 2-5 favored Sand Vic crossed the wire in 1:53 while the 9-2 Corleone Kosmos upset 1-5 choice Strong Yankee in 1:52.3.

Brian Sears directed Sand Vic for trainer Trond Smedshammer and owner August Miedel. Finishing three-quarters of a length behind in second with Elegant Man with Muscles Marinara third. Hez Striking was fourth and 2005 Hambletonian winner Vivid Photo earned the final return ticket for the final by finishing fifth.

A 5-year-old son of Mr. Vic, Sand Vic last month won the $175,000 Arthur Cutler Memorial at the Meadowlands. Overall, he now has three wins and two seconds in five starts in 2006 as he increased his lifetime earnings to $882,322.

The Sears-Smedshammer team had to settle for second in the second elim with 2005 Breeders Crown champion Strong Yankee by 1 3/4 lengths behind the winning Corleone Kosmos and driver John Campbell. Sir Perseveramce took third, with Mohammed Mali fourth and Self Professed fifth.

Ross Croghan trains the winning Corleone Kosmos for owners Arthur Rudolph, Rudolph Stables and Bernard Owen. A 4-year-old gelded son of SJ's Photo, the time lowered his lifetime mark by one-fifth of a second. It was his fifth win of the year in seven starts.
