Tompkins-Geers division equals Tioga track record

July 21, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Trotters took the stage at Tioga Downs on Saturday, with nine of the 12 carded races dedicated to the Tomkins-Geers.  Too Salty posted the fastest division of the night with a 1:55.2 win, which tied the Tioga Downs track record for three-year-old trotting colts (Algiers Hall, 2006).

Trained by Doug Miller and driven by Ray Schnittker, the SJs Caviar colt led from start to finish.  The win marked his sixth of 10 starts and a new lifetime mark.  Too Salty held off the ever-present second-placed finisher Princetonian and driver Howard Parker.

The fastest filly of the Tompkins-Geers was Bruschette, an Andover Hall three-year-old trained and driven by Jan Johnson.  The 1:57.1 win gives her two wins in a row after winning a Reynolds Stake at Pocono Downs on July 13 in a lifetime best 1:56.1.

Roger Hammer piloted Pizzazzed to a 2:00 win, making him the fastest two-year-old of the night.  The Kadabra colt was parked for the first turn but gained the lead before the :29.4 first quarter.  Owned by Fox Valley Standardbreds of Illinois, Pizzazzed equaled his lifetime best, taken just seven days ago at Rosecroft.  Trotting a :58.4 last half Hammer and Pizzazzed held off Jimmy Takter and Holiday Credit.
