The penultimate preliminary leg of the George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series--round four for the uninitiated--goes Saturday night at Yonkers Raceway, with the pair of $50,000 events going as races eight and nine. Took Hanover, who took last week off after a snappy 1:51.1 effort in the second Levy round, landed post position two in Saturday night's second Levy division. Greg Merton again drives the 5-year-old son of The Panderosa, trained by Noel Daley for Adam Victor & Son and John Fielding. "Took" turned in a personal season's best in his most recent try as well as the fastest local mile thus far in '08. Palone Ranger (Catello Manzi, post six) upset his Levy grouping two starts ago, while JK Big Shot (Stephane Bouchard, post four) takes his first shot in this series after whipping the conditioned crowd. Saturday night's first Levy event finds Mypanmar (Bouchard, post one) going after a second consecutivie series victory--again from the pylons. Special Report (Larry Stalbaum, post three) was all dressed up with no place to go last week, settling for second to the AWOL-this-week Rare Jewel. Home Run Hudson (Manzi, post four) gets some much-needed post relief. Driver Anthony Simpson notched his first local victory on Tuesday night when Where's Bubba ($17.60) won the $6,000 seventh race pace by a head in 1:57.2. Simpson, who as Gait to Wire Stable owns the 5-year-old Spectacular Deal gelding, won his 28th career race. The 27-year-old native of Mt. Vernon, Ill., purchased "Bubba" this past January. It was the first win in nine seasonal starts for Where's Bubba, as well as Simpson's first '08 win as driver and trainer. (Yonkers)
