Top sophomore pacing prospects Village Jolt and Rocknroll Hanover will make their 2005 pari-mutuel debuts in divisions of the opening round of New Jersey Sire Stakes at the Meadowlands Saturday night.

Village Jolt, named the Dan Patch Award winner as the best of his division last year, has drawn post six in the second of the two divisions (5th race) for the sophomore colt pacers and will have the driving services of Ron Pierce. Village Jolt, who won the Woodrow Wilson and Breeders Crown on his way to divisional honors, most recently won a qualifier at the Big M Friday, May 6, in 1:52.2. He will take on seven rivals for a purse of $36,350.

Rocknroll Hanover, who defeated Village Jolt in his world-record 1:49.4 performance in the Metro final at Woodbine last year, will leave from post one in the night's opening nine-horse contest, which has a purse of $36,950. Brian Sears, who directed Rocknroll Hanover to a 1:54 qualifying victory May 6, will once again be in the sulky.
