Top mares race in Sweden

Swedish semi-finals for the 4-year-old mares ladies were contested Monday night at the Mantorp track. Among those competing were two of the top two of the class, Joy Ås (Malabar Man - Nevele Duchess) and Electra Skift. Joy Ås cut the fractions for Olle Goop, but was short in the end when Västerbo My Lady came flying home to win for Örjan Kihlström.

Västerbo My Lady was timed in a mile rate of 2:00.2 over 2,140 meters and Joy Ås was second.

Ausa TYC appeared to take the second semi-final, but the photo showed the winner to be Parisienne (SJ's Photo). They were both timed in a mile rate of 2:02.3.

Orchidee d'Aunou (Coktail Jet) was driven for Orjan Kihlstrom and was never threatened from the lead in her semi-final. She's trained and partly owned by Robert Bergh and Ecurie Etoile of Belgium. She was timed in a mile rate of 2:00.2.

Trainer Stig H. Johansson and driver Erik Adielsson took the last semi-final with Electra Skift, who won in a mile rate time of 2:01.1.
