Top trotters invade Vernon Friday night

Return Home
September 06, 2012 | Print View

Vernon Downs is setting the stage for its End of Summer Showdown at the racetrack on Friday night (Sept. 7) highlighted by the $191,000 Muscle Hill Trot and $200,000 Credit Winner Trot. Also on tap for Friday night at Vernon Downs will be a horse beanie toy giveaway (while supplies last), the final of the horseplay car giveaway, and fireworks immediately following live racing. The excitement kicks off on Friday night with a first race post time of 6:55 pm.

In the $200,000 Credit Winner Trot, the two top free-for-all trotters of the year, Chapter Seven and Mister Herbie, will rekindle their rivalry for the third time this year. They each have a win and a second to their name in this year's matchup, with Chapter Seven capturing glory in the Titan Cup and Mister Herbie returning the favor in the Maple Leaf Trot. Both Chapter Seven and Mister Herbie come into Vernon Downs with sub 1:51 miles on the season and both won by open lengths in their last outing. Regular pilots Tim Tetrick and Jody Jamieson will make the trip to Vernon, New York on Friday night.

In the $191,000 Muscle Hill Trot, the event is a little more of a wide open affair with Action-Broadway being made the 2-1 morning line favorite. Cedar Dove and Tim Tetrick will certainly take some action at the windows from post six, but was a disappointing sixth in a leg of the Miss Versatility trotting series at Tioga in her last outing at odds of 1-2. Beatgoeson Hanover (Trond Smedshammer) comes into Vernon off of a victory in the Miss Versatility trotting series trotting home from last to win in 1:54.1.
