Published reports from Toronto state that the city’s executive committee has recommended to the Toronto Council to negotiate an increase in the revenue the city receives from the slot machines at Woodbine, which would result in an increase from $14.5 million a year to about $55 million. Currently, the city receives five percent of the gross revenue on the first 450 of the 1,950 slot machines and two percent from the remaining machines. The recommendation is that the city receives 10 percent of the machines’ net win, which is the same percentage the track and horsemen receive.
