Towner's Big Sadie upsets at Northfield

Frank Scarl's Towner's Big Sadie ($18.80), a five-year-old Towner's Big Guy mare, closed from well back to win riday's $5,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace at Northfield in 1:55.2 to equal her lifetime mark.
Sweet Ashtin took an early lead, but Sugar Scoot Brown took control as the field reached the 28.2 quarter and took the elite group through fractions of 28.1 and 1:26.1, as Kurt Sugg got the winner under way from the back, going by the leader in the stretch to win by 1 3/4 lengths. Sugar Scoot brown was second and favored ICU Roller, hampered by an assigned outside post finished thrid.

The win was the sixth this year for Towner's Big Sadie, who has now earned $69,811in her career. (Northfield)
