Joann and Joe Thomson's Toy Dragon set a world record for older mares on a half-mile racetrack Tuesday at Harrington Raceway with a 1:52 win in the $15,000 Filly and Mare Open.
The 5-year-old Dragon's Lair mare and driver Steve Warrington set fractions of :27.2, :55.2 and 1:23.4 before a :28.1 last quarter, in which she held off previous track record holder Yada Yada Yada A to the wire. Crossfire N was third. The previous world record was 1:52.2 by Cinder Best in 2003 at Delaware, Ohio.
It was the second track record in as many days and fourth track record set in just 12 days of racing.
Driver Jim Morand won four races on the program, while Brad Hanners won three. Warrington had a driving double, winning the subfeatured winners-over with Dan Warrington, Don Hawk and John Hynansky's Jennys Picnic in 1:53.3. (Harrington Raceway release)
