Toy Dragon upsets in Open

Toy Dragon and driver Steve Warrington held off a late charge by GE's Jen (Howard Davis) to win the Fillies and Mares Open pace at Dover Tuesday night in 1:53.1.



Toy Dragon, a 5-year-old mare by Dragon's Lair, claimed the lead at the 3/8 pole. Ann Other Porsche (Brad Hanners) challenged to the top of the stretch, but gave way to finish fourth. Toy Dragon is leased by Joe and Joann Thomson and trained by Dan Warrington.



GE's Jen used the passing lane to just miss the win by a nose. The 7-year-old JK Outlaw mare went to the post as the favorite after an impressive win in the Fillies and Mares Junior Open last Tuesday.



Shake Away (Jim King Jr.) tipped five wide in the final turn to nab third.



In Tuesday's Fillies and Mares Junior Open, Humminbird N (Ross Wolfenden) got up to win by a neck in 1:53.2 for trainer Joe Hundertpfund Jr. and owners Tim Hundertpfund and Joe Colosi. Western City (Steve Warrington) was second and SF Misty (Tim Curtin) was third.
