Joyce Keeler's Finale's Angel ($5.60) broke her own track record for 4-year-old pacing mares Tuesday at Harrington Raceway with a 1:53.1 triumph in the sub-featured Mares Junior Open. Driven by Tony Morgan for trainer Victor Keeler II, the Incredible Finale mare seized control of the race after the half mile in :55.4, where she would cruise to a five-length win over Fritzie Bunnie and Nidya A. It was her fifth win of the year. In the $16,500 featured Mares Open, Peter Tritton's Ball Gown A ($5.60) made a successful North American debut with a 1:53.3 triumph. Driver Ross Wolfenden utilized the rail post position by sending the Presidential Ball mare to the front where she would cruise to a two length victory over Ireneonthemove and Poppy Lustre N. Earlier in the evening, the track observed a moment of silence for the tragic one year anniversary of the death of driver/trainer Hal Belote, who was killed in a racing accident on May 15, 2006. Belote was a popular and accomplished member of the horsemen community. (Harrington)
