Triumphant Caviar dominated the Open trotting class at Mohawk Tuesday night with a 1:51.4 career best. The North American season's leaders for trotting speed are Buck I St. Pat, Arch Madness and Enough Talk, who have all won in 1:51 this year.

Driver and co-owner Luc Ouellete used rail advantage to position the son of SJ’s Caviar third before the opening panel of :27.1. Armbro Chronicle and driver Mike Saftic controlled the pace from post four with Define The World and Paul MacDonell settling in second.

Triumphant Caviar wasn’t content in the three hole and attacked Armbro Chronicle at the half in :56.1. He then cleared to the lead and led his rivals past the three-quarters in 1:24.1. As the field marched for home, Triumphant Caviar opened up on his rivals to win convincingly for Ouellette with Define The World finishing second and Armbro Chronicle completing the triactor.

Triumphant Caviar now has career earnings of $607,775 for Ouellette, Kerry Beaver, Paul Bernard and James Gallagher.

After the victory Chris Beaver spoke to the Woodbine Entertainment media department.

"It's hard to imagine for him to get much better than he was tonight. He (Luc Ouellette) said he had a lot left. Generally I think he should continue to get better, he's always gotten better right from two on up,"
Beaver told WEG's media department.

“He was at a disadvantage in the Maple Leaf Trot. He drew the nine hole and that kind of took him out of it and we were a longshot so he (Luc Ouellette) couldn't drive him aggressively,” Beaver commented.
