Lucky Jim kept his perfect 2009 record intact after easily sweeping the field in the $41,500 Father Foley Memorial Trot final Thursday night at the Meadowlands.

Lucky Jim took command out of the gate for driver Andy Miller and drew off to win the night’s third race in 1:54.4. The rest of the four-horse field followed in perfect numeric order throughout the race, with Wind Surfer finishing 2 1/2 lengths behind in second, Swan Image in third and Stand Guard completing the order of finish. Lucky Jim returned $2.10 as he extended his winning streak to eight races.

Lucky Jim is undefeated since entering the barn of trainer Julie Miller this winter. The son of SJ’s Photo-Hawaiian Sierra has now won 10 of 28 career starts and $236,953 for owners David and John Prushnok and William Gregg. He equaled the 1:51.3 world record for a 4-year-old trotting gelding on a mile track shared by Flamewalker and Corleone Kosmos on March 8. A week later, Lucky Jim completed a sweep of the Horse & Groom Series with a 1:53 stakes record effort in the $96,000 final. Lucky Jim is eligible to the Arthur J. Cutler Memorial (May 16) and Titan Cup (June 26) at the Meadowlands. (Meadowlands)
