Trotter makes it two straight at The Meadows

April 16, 2008 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Casperdfrendlyhors was fully extended but won his second straight $13,000 leg of the South Strabane Trot for 3-year-old colts and geldings on Tuesday at The Meadows.

Making his first start for new owner J.D. Snyder Jr. and trainer Rich Gillock following a private acquisition, Casperdfrendlyhors and Dick Stillings were content to stalk Pembroke Lane in the pocket. But the gelded son of SJ's Photo needed every inch of the stretch to make up his 2 1/2-length deficit, prevailing by a head over the game Pembroke Lane in 1:57.2. Muscles Rule was well back in third. The same three horses finished in the same order in last week's opening leg.

Unraced at two, Casperdfrendlyhors broke stride in his career debut but has ripped off four consecutive victories since then.

The series final is set for Monday, April 22.

The $18,000 Filly and Mare Open Trot also had a familiar look to it as Whotookwhat took the race for the fourth time in her last six starts. Her first-over move carried her to victory for trainer-driver Ray Paver in 1:55.4, equaling her career best. Winning Sister was 1 1/4 lengths back in second with Keystone Celeste a closing third. William and Barbara Paull own Whotookwhat, a daughter of Inquirer. (The Meadows)
