Troublemaker found at DD

For the second week in a row, Poppy Lustre N proved the best in the $24,000 Filly and Mare Open Pace at Dover Downs on Tuesday, while Binions won the distaff $21,000 Jr. Open. Tony Morgan and Tim Tetrick each won three races.

Tetrick, who leads all drivers at the meet, registered his third success of the day guiding the Direct Flight 5 year old to victory in a lifetime-best 1:51.2 clocking. Dream-A-While, piloted by Art Stafford Jr., led for most the race before yielding to the winner and held on for second. Shake Away, with Jim King, closed well to finish third in the field of eight distaffs.

Newman Racing Stable's Binions, a half sister to popular Delaware stallion Powerful Toy, romped to a wire-to-wire 1:54.1 victory in the $21,000 Filly and Mare Open Pace. Jim Morand drove the Bettor's Delight 3-year-old to her eighth win of the year. She has now won $119,149 this season. Bay Express N, driven by Roger Plante, a 12-1 shot, finished second. Ain't Goin Back was third for Ben Stafford Jr.

Hall fo Famer Ron Pierce drove Shesa Troublemaker tp a 1:53 victory in a $15,500 pace for females. Owned by Margaret Mancini and former Minnesota Twins World Series winning manager Tom Kelly, Shea Troublemanker won for the second time in three starts with a second, beaten a nose, in between. Jay Low (Ross Wolfenden) was runner-up. Poker Mom (Plante) took third.

Jagged Ice got up in the closing strides to win a $10,200 Delaware mares pace. It was the second winner for Brandon Givens. Hannah's Sunset (Tetrick) and Bayland Lady (King) were second and third, respectively.

Charkes Miller's Tawny and driver Hanners reached the finish line in 1:53 to win a $10,000 filly and mare pace. West Coast Arturo (Pierce) was next. Playus A Happytune (Bob Kinsey Jr.) was third. (Dover Downs)
