Looking like a beaten horse around the final turn, TSM Photo Bugger found renewed life in the stretch to capture Wednesday's $20,000 Preferred Handicap Trot, the 2013 opening-day feature at The Meadows.
Moving first-over from fourth, TSM Photo Bugger dueled with the leader, Run And Tell Pap, but appeared spent as the pair turned for home. Under Mike Wilder's urging, the 6-year-old SJ's Photo-Rewarding Wink gelding rallied again and downed Run And Tell Pap by 1 1/2 lengths in 1:56.3. The pocket-sitting Fox Valley Smarty was third.
Jan Fread trains TSM Photo Bugger, who now boasts $233,373 in career earnings, for owner/breeder Ted Tomson. Brett Miller drove four winners on the 15-race card. (The Meadows)
