Tug River Princess, the 8-5 betting favorite, captured the $350,000 Valley Forge for 3-year-old filly pacers Sunday at Harrah's Chester, turning in a 1:50.2 effort for driver John Campbell and trainer Ross Croghan.
On Hambletonian Day a tough trip and an off track combined to derail Tug River Princess from her consistent ways and she finished seventh in the Mistletoe Shalee. But in the Valley Forge driver John Campbell swooped to the lead with Tug River Princess at about the five-eighths mark, taking control from Stylish Artist, and the Princess held her position.
Good News Lady got up for third in the race, giving her four thirds in 11 starts, plus three seconds--but never a win.
Tug River Princess is a daughter of Badlands Hanover, giving Badlands Hanover a sweep of the top sophomore pacing events on the Harrah's Chester Super Sunday card.
