March 30, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Driver Tim Maier put his name in the record books Thursday night at Cal Expo when he finished in a dead heat for win twice on the program, joining seven others who had previously done so.

Maier's first tie for first came with Hope Tu Place in 2:00.3 in the 4th race, later followed by a dead-heat victory behind Michael's Western in 1:54.3 in the 10th race.

Jean Paul Morel was the first driver to ever attain the odd feat when he did so at Saratoga Harness on June 26, 1978. Harold Stead was next at Greenwood Raceway on Jan. 18, 1980. They were followed by Tom Swift at Batavia Downs March 15, 1987; Scott Robbins at Quad City Downs June 14, 1989; Jim Morand at Rosecroft Raceway Oct. 1, 1994; Jack Moiseyev at the Meadowlands March 8, 1995; and Rod Therres at Fraser Downs Feb. 25, 2005.
