Badlands And Art and Lather Machine were second round winners in the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund Tuesday night at Dover Downs.

In the first DSBF division, Badlands And Art, who raced gallantly the previous week--parked the mile to finish second beaten a nose--was clearly at the top of his game as Ben Stafford Jr. drove the gelding he owns with John Heckler to an impressive 1:55.2 triumph.

Tidewater Ethan came from last at the half to finish second. Race favorite Badlands Come Home and Tony Morgan had to settle for third in front of first-leg winner He's Personal (Jim Morand), who faded to fourth after leading at the half.

Another Badlands Hanover sophomore, Lather Machine, made a power move on the backstretch for Eddie Davis Jr. and rolled to a 1:53.3 victory.

Jus Trouble, driven by Kevin Sizer, finished second in front of Mic Mac Beau and Jim King. Gary and Barbara Iles bred and own Lather Machine, whose dam is a full sister to the late Delmarva standout Crew Cut Zach.

The top eight point-getters in the preliminaries return Thursday, April 13, to vie for the DSBF $100,000 final.
