Nineteen 2-year-old colt pacers have been entered for this year’s $1 million Metro Pace, with two eliminations to be contested Saturday night at Mohawk Racetrack. The top five finishers in each elim will advance to the Sept. 2 final with the connections of the two winners able to select their post positions.

The George Teague Jr. Stable has got each of the Metro Pace elims covered, as Funny Bones (PP6, Luc Ouellette) has drawn into the opening split, while Mr. Apples (PP1, Ron Pierce) and Mattdultery (PP7, Ron Pierce) will contest the second elim.

Funny Bones made noise on June 17 at Georgian Downs, when he took his mark in a snappy 1:52.4 in his career debut. Owned by Only Money Inc., Teague Inc. and the Warren Racing Stable, Funny Bones is a Grinfromeartoear colt out of the Direct Scooter mare Armbro Mermaid. He has two wins in five starts and earnings of $84,645.

Mr. Apples, a Bettor’s Delight colt out of the No Nukes mare Never In Paris, took his mark of 1:51.4 in a division of the Niatross at the Meadowlands, and in four starts has complied a record of two wins, two seconds and $140,471 in purses for owners Rodney Mitchell and George Teague Jr.

Mattdultery, a Real Desire colt out of the Matt’s Scooter mare The Mattican, is carrying a four-race win streak into his elim for owners William Camp Jr. and Teague Inc. Like his stablemate, Mattdultery's mark was taken in a division of the Niatross, where the career winner of $90,079 scored in 1:53.1 while going away.
