November 19, 2005 Send To A Friend  | Print View

There were upsets in both Breeders Crown eliminations for 2-year-old colt pacers Saturday at the Meadowlands as the David Miller-driven Western Cyclone and Shark Gesture emerged victorious.

In the first of the two elims it was Western Cyclone edging 2-5 favorite Jereme's Jet in the final strides to score in 1:54. Jereme's Jet, driven by Paul MacDonell, quarter-moved to the lead in front of Western Cyclone and driver Miller, but was unable to hold that one off in the final yards. It was the first career loss for Jereme's Jet in his sixth start.

Artstanding (Mike Lachance) weaved his way up the inside for third with Faust Blue Chip and Sea Dragon also earning spots in next Saturday's final.

In the second elim it was 8-1 Shark Gesture, still fifth in mid stretch for Miller, who rallied the fastest to edge 4-5 favored Western Ace (Cat Manzi) late to win in 1:53.2. Palone Ranger (Brian Sears) was third across the wire but was moved back a spot behind Perfect Union (George Brennan) for causing interference while on a short break in stride in the final turn. Fifth-place went to Bartolomeo N.
