Series finals for 2-year-old pacers were featured at The Meadows Tuesday night and the favorites were defeated as First Fancy won the $18,000 filly pace in 1:56.1 and Idealic Life pulled off a huge upset in the colt pace, winning by a neck in 1:56.

First Fancy, a daughter of Arturo, won by 1 ¾ lengths for trainer Dan Altmeyer, who owns the filly in partnership with his daughter, Heather Wilder, and Ed Rogers. Betting favorite Blissful Erin set the early pace but faded badly in the stretch drive.

Idealic Life, an 84-1 shot, won by a neck over Pardon You. Betting choice Year Of The Dragon, who had won in 1:54.3 the previous week, was two lengths back in third for driver Cat Manzi, who flew in to drive the colt for his cousin, trainer Walt Carroll.

Charles and Donna Martin own Idealic Life, a colt by Western Ideal. The Martin family bought the colt at the February 2005 Blooded Horse Sale, needing a bid of just $1,500.
