Return Home
April 20, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Upsets were the order of the evening at Maywood Park Friday as Dr Nabrinsky and Mrs Grant Seven captured their respective $15,000 divisions of the Desperate Lady Stakes for Illinois Conceived and Foaled 3-year-old filly pacers.

In the first division 3-1 second choice Dr Nabrinsky and Del Chupp sat second at the pylons before coming up the passing lane in the stretch to post a 1 1/2-lengthvictory over Nancy Irene and Dave Magee in 1:58.1. Even-money favorite Orgami Rose, Illinois’ 2-year-old filly pacer of the year in 2006, was fourth in her season debut.

The winner is a homebred Park Place filly owned by Robert Le Roy Enterprises and trained by Les Miller.

In the second division, 10-1 Mrs Grant Seven and Jason Dillander went wire to wire in 1:55, holding off Faith Leigh and Brent Holland by more than a length. Odds On Diana was third. The favored Faith Leigh came into the race off her win in the Jersey Girls Series final at the Meadowlands.

Rattlesnake Ranch owns the winning Sportsmaster lass trained by Guy Calvert.
