The Tender Loving Care Series for 3-year-old fillies resumed with a pair of upsets Thursday night at Meadowlands Racetrack.
Angel From Above rallied from fifth at the top of the stretch to win the first of the $12,500 splits in 1:56.1. The 22-1 shot scored her second career win in rein to Ron Pierce. Odds On Moinet, the 8-5 favorite, finished a half length behind in second, but was disqualified and placed seventh for racing inside the pylons in the stretch. Day Lily Hanover inherited the place spot, while Cee Q was fourth placed third.
Angel From Above paid $47.80 to win the first race of the night. Johnny Waite of Camden, Del. trains and owns the daughter of Bettor's Delight-Jett Away.
Fox Valley Dazzle saved all the ground and unleashed a :26.2 final quarter to take the second division over The Assassinator in 1:55.3. Tryst faded to third after cutting the mile. Driven by Andy Miller and trained by his brother, Erv, Fox Valley Dazzle returned $13.20. The daughter of Richess Hanover-Duncan's Sister is now perfect in two career starts for co-owners Hannah Miller and Tony Alagna. Delayed a week by inclement weather, the $61,000 Tender Loving Care final is set for Friday, February 26. (Meadowlands)
