Return Home
May 16, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Don Pontius, who for nearly 37 years had served as the U.S. Trotting Association’s (USTA) staff attorney, died Wednesday after a battle with cancer.

Pontius was familiar to countless USTA members who over the years sought his advice in regard to legal issues as they related to the sport. He also gathered and documented rule change proposals each year prior to the annual meeting of the USTA Board of Directors.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; a son, Jeffrey; and a daughter, Laura.

There will be no funeral service. Those wishing to send condolences may address them in care of the U.S. Trotting Association, 750 Michigan Ave., Columbus, OH 43215, and they will be sent to the family. (USTA)
