Ronnie Wrenn is chasing the national dash championship, and since he's been driving at Colonial Downs, the Newport News (Va.) Daily Press has picked up on the chase. "At 27 and single, you'd think Ronnie Wrenn Jr. would be ready to hit the town upon finishing his work week at a job near Cleveland at 11:30 Friday night," writes reporter Marty O'Brien. "Instead, he takes a quick shower and jumps into a pickup truck, where he'll sleep the next eight hours while his dad or a friend, nicknamed "Road Dog,” drives him to the weekend job he'll start at about noon Saturday."
"I don't know if I could do what I do without them,” Wrenn said of his father, Ron, and Road Dog. "I don't really like the travel — it wears on you — but I love what I do. It would be special to be recognized as the guy with the most wins (nationally), and I'd be humbled because there's a lot of good drivers out there.”
