Stylish Solution extended her winning streak to 13 in the second of two $40,000 Cape & Cutter divisions Friday night at the Meadowlands. This time the mare by Artiscape beat Little Miss Dragon with a 1:52.1 effort.
Driven by Brian Sears, Stylish Solution coasted wire-to-wire. Little Miss Dragon was ¾-lengths behind in second while Miss Galvinator A finished third. Stylish Solution paid $2.20.
Stylish Solution is a perfect three-for-three this season. She is trained by Nat Varty, who also won the night’s first Cape and Cutter division with Ulrica Bromac N.
“She hasn’t lost for me yet,” Varty said of the 5-year-old bay mare. “She is really, really good right now. Brian [Sears] is extremely confident with her and her ability to leave the gate is more his doing than hers. She caught two short fields [in her last pair of starts], which has helped. After this, she has the Overbid Series [at the Meadowlands].”
Arthur and Scott Rudolph of Bohemia, NY purchased Stylish Solution privately on Jan. 21 from her previous owner, David Schneider. She has won 15 of 37 career starts.
Varty also took the first Cape and Cutter division with Ulrica Bromac N. Driven by Tim Tetrick, she catapulted off cover and held on for a length victory over My Little Dragon in 1:51.4.
“She is 7-for-10 for me,” Varty said of Ulrica Bromac N. “I knew she was a tough mare when I first got her. Last June she almost died from a bad abscess on her foot. She went from possibly being euthanized, to possibly being a broodmare, to maybe racing, to what you saw tonight.”
The Cape & Cutter continues next week with a second leg on Feb. 15 and concludes with a $60,000 final on Feb. 22. (Meadowlands)
