Vernon suitor named

One of two companies reportedly interested in purchasing Vernon Downs has been identified in a story in Friday's Syracuse Post-Standard. Casinopartners Management Inc., which is managed by a former general manager of Fort Erie Racetrack and Slots for five years, has offered $38 million to buy the bankrupt track.



"There are a lot of good people at Vernon Downs who have suffered through no fault of their own," Casinopartners CEO Eddie Lynn, who beside running Fort Erie was also instrumental in the launching of casino gaming in Colorado, told the Post-Standard. "This has the potential to move forward."



Lynn, who has been to Vernon Downs several times, added he hopes to have a purchase agreement in place so he could open the track and its video lottery terminal parlor by next spring.
