Vernon to interview 3

The Syracuse Post-Standard is reporting today three candidates will be interviewed over the next two days for the chief executive officer position at Vernon Downs: Gil Short, Dennis Dowd and Joseph Lashinger.



Short was involved in helping launch Colonial Downs and Indiana Downs; Dowd, a former New Jersey Racing Commission chairman and official at Freehold Raceway, ran Vernon Downs earlier this year for about three months. He currently works as vice president for account wagering and off-track wagering at the Meadowlands; Lashinger is currently involved in the proposed building of a new harness track in Chester, Pa.
