Vertical Horizon wins Bluegrass 3CP split

Tim Tetrick split horses in midstretch with Vertical Horizon to win the first of two $125,500 Bluegrass divisions for 3-year-old colt pacers Saturday afternoon at The Red Mile in 1:51.1. Annieswesterncard was second for Daniel Dube with Straight Shooting, who led the mile until late in the lane, third for Dave Palone.
 
Owned by Bulletproof Enterprises and trained by Tracy Brainard, Vertical Horizon is a son of Western Hanover out of te Artiscape mare Summer Mystery. Winless in five starts last year at two, Vertical Horizon won for the fourth time in 18 starts in 2009, increasing his career earnings to nearly $300,000. The time was a career best for the sophomore.
