Vertigo Hanover wins season debut

Return Home
April 24, 2009 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Making his first start of the year, the 3-year-old pacing colt Vertigo Hanover stayed game despite racing at the back of the field and turned in a late stretch rally that gave him a neck win in 1:52.3 at the Meadowlands Friday night.

Vertigo Hanover, a son of The Panderosa, started from post nine and was settled eighth in the nine-horse field by driver John Campbell. But Campbell's patience and the folding field provided the opportunity for the win.

Western Posse, Pangiorno and McArdles Star took turns on the lead, but tired, allowing Vertigo Hanover to post the win. Ooh Dear Sam, a 4-year-old by Nobleland Sam, was second in his third Big M start after competing in the Sagamore Hills Series at Yonkers.

Duane Marfisi trains Vertigo Hanover for the Uncirculated Stable. Last year the colt finished on the board in five of seven starts and took a mark of 1:51.1 at the Meadowlands.
