At nine, the oldest pacer in the field, the venerable Mypanmar showed that he still has plenty of spring in his step as he captured Friday’s $22,500 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows, in front-end fashion.
Entering the race off two victories in his last three starts, Mypanmar rolled to the lead for Dave Palone and held off the late charge of Valentowner to down that rival by a neck, in 1:51.2. Baccarat Stena shot the Lightning Lane for show. It was one of three wins on the 13-race card for Palone.
Virgil Morgan Jr. trains Mypanmar, a son of The Panderosa-Road To Pandalay, who extended his career bankroll to $1,420,790 for Peter Pan Stables. (The Meadows)
