Classy veteran Green Day turned in a powerful performance to win the $33,000 Open Trot on Wednesday at Dover Downs, while Twelve Seventeen maded the winner's circle in the $21,000 sub-feature trot.

With Tim Curtin at the controls, Green Day blew past leader Allmar Surprise (Vic Kirby) at the three-quarters and then opened up a giant lead on the way to a 1:54 triumph. LT's Best and Vince Copeland closed in a hurry to take second in front of Spunky Vic driven by Corey Callahan.

Jim Raymer's Trillium Racing Stable owns the Enjoy Lave-Sonoma Hanover 5-year-old gelding. It was his first win in his second start of the new year. Green Day has earned $858,786 in his career. Allmar Surprise finished off the board for the first time since being acquired last fall by Vic Kirby.

Pacer-turned-trotter Twelve Seventeen closed from far back to score a 1:56.2 victory. Seventh but moving at the top of the lane, Jack Parker sent Twelve Seventeen four wide and zoomed past six others in the stretch for the Eric Schultz bred and owned Falcons Future-Dime A Dip 8 year old's first win of 2009 after three consecutive second-place finishes. Veteran Breeze Hill Will came on with Jon Roberts for second. Go Nano Go and Eddie Davis Jr. was the show horse.

M&M Harness Racing's Tonight Aas turned in a convincing 1:57 triumph in the $17,000 conditioned trot with Vic Kirby steering the Striking Sahbra-Tallulah 5 year old to his second win in his last three starts. Adam Gram (Callahan) took place honors. Kennywood (Jim Morand) came through the "Dover Driveway" to finish third.

Ross Wolfenden turned a perfect trip racing Greg Davis' Emerald Sky behind Indeman (Callahan) until the stretch into a 1:55.1 win via the passing lane in the $13,000 fillies and mares pace. The daughter of Cam's Card Shark-Anna Emerald was the only 3 year old in the field. Indeman held on for second. Dewys Deal (Roberts) was third.

Wolfenden began his back-to-back wins piloting Pedo Doc to victory in 1:54.2 in a $12,500 pace. Ken Wood, Steve Iaquinta and Bill Dittmar own the Cam's Card Shark-Baby Jean gelding. Sudden Interest (Kirby) and Riskys Whirlwind (Cole) finished second and third, respectively.

Larry Baron's Red Skull raced second until the passing lane and then Brandon Givens rolled the Cam's Card Shark-Monday Hanover gelding down the inside for a 1:54.1 victory in an $11,000 pace. Red Granger (Wolfenden) led early and held on for second. The Osco Kid (Morgan) spent much of the last half on the outside and finished third. (Dover Downs)
