Vicktor continued his ascent up the New York-bred sophomore trotting ranks on Thursday, visiting the winner’s circle for the second straight time following a 2:01.3 victory in the second-race non-winners trot at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway. Starting from post seven with Jay Randall at the lines, Vicktor trotted five-wide through the opening turn and was parked in second place as odds-on favorite Primo (John Stark Jr.) showed the way through an opening quarter mile that went in :29.3. As the field made its second turn of the mile, a spot on the pylons opened up for Vicktor, and the gelding settled comfortably in the pocket to track the leader through middle fractions of 1:00.2 and 1:31.3. Primo entered the lane with a diminishing one-length advantage over Vicktor, who was angled off the pylons in mid-stretch to march confidently by his vanquished rival, sprinting clear in the final yards to prevail by 1 3/4 lengths. Vicktor returned $6.50, $4.00, and $2.10 for the victory. Primo brought in $2.70 and $2.10 for second, while Dw’s Big D (Barry Segel) paid $2.90 for third. Owned by Hopeful Stable and trainer Morris Nassivera, Vicktor has gotten his picture taken in two of his four career starts, finishing no worse than second in that quartet of outings. The son of El Paso Kash, out of the Mr Vic mare Hawaiian Vicky, was bred in New York by George K. Miller. (Saratoga Gaming and Raceway)
