Victor's Pursuit sets mark

Return Home
August 24, 2005 | Print View

Victor's Pursuit, seventh at the three-quarter pole, rallied down the far outside of the Balmoral stretch Tuesday night and got up in the final stride to win the $50,000 Hanover Stakes for 3-year-old trotting fillies in a lifetime and stakes record 1:55.1 for Andy Miller.

Finishing second was Silhouette Star and Ron Marsh, who had cut the mile and had a three-length lead in mid stretch before being caught at the end of the mile. Just Like Dream and Mike Oosting were third.

Roger Welch trains the winning daughter of Valley Victor, who won for the seventh time in 17 starts, but just the first time in her last nine starts, for owners Robert Rietveld and Paul Gibson.
