Viva Las Dover for Elvis!

March 15, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Elvis Cole romped to his fourth win in his last five starts winning the $27,500 Open Trot at Dover Downs on Wednesday, while the $17,500 winners-over trot went to RC Destiny, his second straight win. Tim Tetrick and Ross Wolfenden each had a three-win night.

Four horses left the starting gate in the Open with Elvis Cole tucking in third briefly. Approaching the first quarter Corey Callahan pulled Lindy Lane gelding to the outside and quickly made the front. From there on it was all Elvis Cole en route to a 1:54.4 triumph. Saint Johns Boy and Wolfenden hustled along the passing lane to finish second. Breeze Hill Will with Tetrick was third.

Elvis Cole has now won four of his 2007 starts with two seconds in eight races. He has earned $60,025 Nick and Parker Callahan, almost as much as he won all last year in 31 starts.

Tony Polesino's RC Destiny enjoyed a perfect two-hole trip in the $17,500 winners-over trot. Tony Morgan used the passing lane to score a 1:55.2 win, the second straight for the Giant Hit gelding. Litigator (Tetrick) closed late to finish second in front of Mystery Solved (Jim King).

Owner-driver Jim Morand guided Kyle E Koyote to the first of his two winning drives in first of two $12,500 conditioned trots. Johnny Peanuts (Carlo Poliseno) was second in front of Orillia Bam Bam (Brad Hanners).

In the other division Neal Oksenberg and Ginger Tree Stable continued their successful week of racing when Celtic Hall scored a 1:56 victory coming on in deep stretch with Tim Curtin driving. Sears Tower (Tetrick) proved second best. Hopedale Jive (Wolfenden) was the show horse.

Jet Set Hall, owned by the currently injured and recovering Toby Lynch, made it two wins in a row as Tetrick drove the Cambest sophomore gelding to a 1:54 victory in a $12,000 Delaware male 3-4-&5-year-old pace. Mic Mac Beau (Jim King), a 25-1 shot, finished second. Muir Hanover (Wolfenden) was third. (Wolfenden)
