Hambletonian winner Vivid Photo won a qualifier at Tioga Downs Friday with a 1:58.3 effort for trainer, driver and co-owner Roger Hammer. It was the first time Vivid Photo wore a saddle pad number in about six weeks.
The 5-year-old son of SJ’s Photo left from behind the Tioga Downs starting gate and spent no time getting to the front in an opening quarter of :29.1. Hammer then let Vivid Photo trot through fractions of :29.3 and :29, reaching the three-quarter pole in 1:27.4. Vivid Photo then trotted home through a soft last quarter of :30.4.
Plans for Vivid Photo right now are to qualify him one or two more times and aim for his pari-mutuel return to the races on June 9 for the third leg of the Classic Series at Mohawk.
