VLTs at all Florida sites?

A Florida Senate committee on Monday approved a bill that will allow video lottery games to be installed at all existing pari-mutuel facilities. Voters in Broward County approved a constitutional amendment to allow slot machines at sites in that county, including Pompano Park which is in the final stages of preparation before opening its racino.

Currently only Pompano, Mardi Gras Racetrack & Gaming Center (formerly Hollywood Greyhound), Gulfstream Park Thoroughbred track and Dania Jai Alai in Broward County are allowed to have slot machines. The newly-introduced bill will allow 1,500 video lottery machines to be installed at every site in the state, including the four Broward sites.

The bill must not go to the state House for approval. Reports indicate that if approved, the video lottery machines could be in operation as soon as Oct. 1.
