War Paint wins qualifier

War Paint made his first racetrack appearance since last November a winning one, capturing a qualifier Monday morning easily in 1:58 over a "sloppy" Mohawk racetrack. Paul MacDonell drove the 6-year-old son of Malabar Man for trainer Dave Tingley, drawing clear to a five-length victory over Will Sikes and Berto's Dream.



The winner of the 2004 Arthur Cutler Memorial at the Meadowlands in a lifetime-best 1:53, War Paint earned more than $238,000 last year. Overall, he has earned $295,000 for owners Joe and Barbara Myers and Peter and Murray Goldberg.
