WEG announces promotions

Jamie Martin has been promoted to senior vice president of racing for Woodbine Entertainment Group, while Bruce Murray will assume the position of vice president, Standardbred racing, reporting to Martin.

Martin will assume overall responsibility for both WEG's Thoroughbred and Standardbred racing operations. Martin has overseen WEG's Standardbred Racing operations as vice president, Standardbred racing for the past six years. Prior to joining Woodbine, Martin was racing and gaming manager at Western Fair Raceway in London, Ont.

Martin brings to this new assignment many years of experience in horse racing. In particular, his experience with WEG's Standardbred racing operation provides him with a solid background on the issues and challenges facing the industry and its related regulatory matters.

Murray has many years of experience in the horse racing industry and with WEG, most recently as director of events and marketing.

Martin will assume the day-to-day management of the Thoroughbred Racing department effective immediately. (From WEG)
