September 02, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Woodbine Entertainment Group issued the following release Friday, Sept. 1, regarding the suspension of racing privileges of owners Aubrey Friedman and Brian Nixon: As of Aug. 8, 2006, the Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) has suspended the racing privileges of horse owners Aubrey Friedman and Brian Nixon at Woodbine and Mohawk Racetracks. Among the horses the two presently campaign is the open pacing mare Jet Lag N.

Nixon has also campaigned such notables as BJ's Squall p,3, 1:53.1 ($261,750) and BJ's Sunset p,4, 1:51.3 ($420,028).

As agreed to by all racing participants at WEG, it is a privilege, not a right, to use the facilities and race at WEG. WEG has a duty to protect the integrity of horse racing and therefore any conduct determined by WEG, in its sole and absolute discretion, to be injurious to the sport of horse racing or not to be in the best interests of the sport of horse racing, may result in the suspension of privileges.

WEG believes that the majority of those licensed in the industry conduct themselves and their businesses with professionalism and abide by the rules. There is no place in horse racing for the use of prohibited drugs or substances with no therapeutic value to the horse. Those industry participants who use, condone, or support the use of these types of substances and/or drugs will not be permitted to participate in racing at WEG racetracks. (WEG)
