Tomato and Go Go Gabby, both sent to the post at odds of 3-5 by trainer Roger Welch, posted dominating victories in their respective divisions of the Silhouette Star for Illinois 3-year-old trotting fillies Wednesday night at Hawthorne Race Course.

In the first division, Tomato remained perfect in four starts this season for driver Tim Tetrick in 2:00.1 over a sloppy track. Fifth on the rail past the opening half, the daughter of Valley Victor swooped on the outside nearing the three-quarters and drew off late to win by 2 1/2 lengths over Fox Valley Shimmy. Giant Jellybean finished third.

In the second division Go Go Gabby won her second consecutive start to begin her sophomore campaign, and she never had to take a deep breath in the 6 1/4-length victory.

Fourth on the rail past the opening quarter, this daughter of Valley Victor quickly brushed to the front before the half for driver Dave Magee and was not threatened thereafter, stopping the timer in 2:00. Phil Mc Rackin finished a distant second, just in front of Fox Valley Go Girl.

Welch co-owns the winning filly with Robert and Philip Rietveld.
