Fred Hertrich III, Brooks Stable and Green Racing's new acquisition Klondike Kid ($4.20, Tim Tetrick) made a successful Delaware debut Monday at Harrington Raceway with a 1:52.4 triumph in the $20,300 Open Handicap. The 5-year-old Admirals Galley stud had won three straight races prior at Hazel Park, before making his Harrington debut. He was a popular choice on the track among local fans, an enigma as he sported a spotted gray coat, he went off the even-money favorite. The Josh Green trainee received a two-hole trip behind pacesetting Redford Hall, before pulling pocket on the final turn and getting the lead late to win his sixth race of the year. Redford Hall was second, while Village Blitz was third. Klondike Kid has banked nearly $400,000 lifetime. It was one of five winners for Tetrick on the program. Tony Morgan won four races.
