Where the buffalo roam

Nine wayward buffalo ran amok in Maryland Tuesday morning and later that afternoon, one pacer from Buffalo Raceway ran amok at Monticello Raceway. After seven wins in eight starts in the top-class race at Buffalo, El Paso Hanover was shipped to Monticello for the $6,800 Open Pace and the 7-year-old Western Hanover gelding cruised to a four-length victory in 1:55.4.



With Kyle Benedetto driving, El Paso Hanover left from post six in the seven-horse field but was parked to the 1:27.1 three-quarters. He took the lead from pacesetter West Gun at that point and drew clear from his competition to post a new career-best clocking.



Trained by Timothy Dunlap and owned by David Krol, El Paso Hanover has now won 29 of 79 career starts, with earnings of $97,581.
