Trainer Stan Whittemore and his wife and daughter escaped serious injury late Tuesday night after racing at Bangor Raceway when their truck and trailer hydroplaned on a wet road and overturned. Three horses in the trailer also were not hurt in the accident that occurred on Interstate 95. Whittemore suffered a couple of broken ribs in the accident while his wife and daughter both had just minor bruises. Trainer Heath Campbell learned of the accident and drove an empty trailer to the site and took the horses to his farm.
