Whosurboy spring champion

Whosurboy posted the first sub-1:50 mile of the 2005 season in Canada, winning the $114,000(C) Spring Pacing Championship final Saturday night at Woodbine in 1:49.3. The race was a one-two sweep for trainer Mark Ford as Street Sign finished second.



Driven by Luc Ouellette, Whosurboy was tipped off cover from the second-over position to go on to the victory. The clocking was a stakes record for the 7-year-old son of Artsplace owned by Ed Mullinax and also a career best.



"Through the stretch, when I moved him and I was waving my whip, he was just trying to come out of his harness," said Ouellette afterward. "That's the way he finishes his miles if you are able to hide him until the head of the stretch."



Escape The Wind finished third after a first-over trip, with pacesetter Rair Earth settling for fourth.
