Whythehellnot N and driver Tim Curtin won the stretch battle in one of two features at Dover Downs on Thursday, March 5. Longshot Halima took the other and Tony Morgan had a driving triple. Tim Curtin drove Whythehellnot N to a second straight victory in the $14,500 Open Pace for Neil Chesen, Wayne Hurtubise and Wahoo Stables. Wynnfield Scamp (Corey Callahan) was right at his shoulder during the stretch duel with Dina's Gamble (Brandon Givens) finishing a close third. Sam Beegle trains the 5-year-old Christian Cullen-Whythelongface N horse who scored in 1:51.3, a career best. Joyce Matthews' Halima Hanover was 12-1 and not an early factor in the $10,500 Open Pace for mares until after the field turned for home. Corey Callahan got the Badlands Hanover-Happy Fiddler mare going in the lane and she shot past the leaders for a 1:56.3 score. Love's Last Storm (Vic Kirby) finished second. Lysistrata (Eddie Davis Jr.) was third. In addition to Morgan's three bagger, Ross Wolfenden and Brandon Givens had two wins each. (Dover)
